Digital Competency Lesson 1: Wordle and Hot Potatoes.
Wordle.net
Wordle is a simple online tool that can be used by accessing Wordle.net. You can either type in your own words (as I have done in fig. 1) or copy and paste a section of relevant information into the text box for the site to then pick out key words for you as seen in fig. 2 and 3. Wordle could be used for creating word banks or toolkit terminology guides for students, homework tasks (e.g. create your own Wordle using the key words from this source) and classroom design. It is easily accessible and does not require you to download it as a program.

Hot Potatoes App
The Hot Potatoes app allows you to create crosswords, quizzes, etc. from home that can be uploaded from most devices using a link. This is an example I created earlier of a crossword on World War 2. The link can be accessed by students as a starter task or for a homework activity. A simple quiz or crossword on Hot Potatoes can also tie into AFL to quickly check in on understanding.
